Jasper bio

All about Susan McPherson.

Jasper Conacher is a recent graduate of the Gallatin School of Individualized Study, where she concentrated in The History and Geopolitics of Human Rights and minored in Social and Public Policy. She earned her degree with honors, culminating in a Senior Thesis exploring the intersection of plantation and carceral geographies, using in-depth analysis of the Mississippi State Penitentiary and the Louisiana State Penitentiary. The compelling nature of her research resulted in her selection as a speaker at the 2023 Senior Symposium, where she shared her key insights with the dean, faculty, and peers.

Jasper possesses a deep passion for community building, which is demonstrated by the multiple leadership roles she held while at Gallatin. Jasper served as an Orientation Leader and an Orientation Captain, as well as the Director of Student Life and the Director Programming on the Gallatin Student Council. Her dedication to community engagement was acknowledged by being honored with the Special Service Award for the Class of 2023, which is given by the faculty and dean in recognition of outstanding service to the university and its community.

In addition to her academic pursuits, Jasper has interned with criminal justice, reproductive justice, feminism and maternal health organizations, including the Feminist Majority Foundation where she was honored to be the Opening General Assembly Speaker at the 2019 National Young Feminist Leadership Conference in Washington, DC. Most recently, Jasper was the Programs Intern with The Last Mile, an organization that teaches coding to incarcerated individuals and provides returned citizens with re-entry services. Jasper assisted the development of The Last Mile's Impact Index, which holistically evaluates overall program effectiveness and graduates' success. In recognition of her commitment to justice, she was a recipient of the NYU Changemaker Fellowship.

Jasper is excited to join McPherson Strategies, where she looks forward to leveraging her previous academic and professional experiences to contribute to the meaningful work that McPherson Strategies is doing. Beyond her passion for human rights advocacy, Jasper is an avid literature reader, musical theater nerd, and lover of pilates.
